An Image

I did this in a photo class the fall semester before last. I cranked up the contrast and removed the dark cluttered background. It's my favorite pic of me and boyfriend, Jonathan. (It's my mother's favorite too, and she's kind of a no-hand-holding-in-my-presence sort of woman.)

This is the original picture, before any photoshopping was done.

  1. Ashlie, are those maps hanging on the wall behind you? ... Anyway, this kind of image cleaning/saturating is one of my favorite ways to make "idealized" photos. It's a slice of "design blog" in real like, kind of.

I could see taking this kind of effect and making a "cover model" kitty or person... Hm, now I'm just thinking out loud.

More importantly, what is it, exactly, if you can put it in words, that you and your mom like about the image?

  2. Actually, they are back drops, this was taken in the photo studio on campus at Waukesha County Tech. I can't speak for my mother but I love how bright and stylized it turned out with very little effort, well, the coloring effects were little effort that happened by accident and I thought it looked awesome. taking out the clutter got difficult when coming close to the edges so as to make it is the background was white. I added the original so you can see the difference .
